Godrej Gives India, Its First Game LCD TV

Godrej Appliances has launched Game LCD TV featuring Motion Sensing Technology. The product, which is first of its kind in India, combines the features of an interactive gaming console with an LCD TV. Through this latest innovation, the company expects its market share to increase to 10 per cent in the television segment. At present, Godrej  has a 5 per cent market share in this segment.

The Game LCD TV which is priced at Rs. 40,000 comes with 25 preloaded interactive games, an impressive 2.4 GHz Wireless Joystick to ensure trouble-free sync with the television, HDMI X 2-High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) for high quality pictures and videos, an SD Card Slot and USB 2.0 for loading additional games and a 1Gb memory for the games. At present, the game LCD TV is available all across Andhra Pradesh but it will be rolled out in other parts of the country in the near future.

Old concept, Fresh implementation?
This is not for the first time that a manufacturer has tried to transform the television by adding some out-of-box functionality. Some earlier attempts like Internet TV (from Thompson), TV with small games (from LG) and the recently launched Satellite LCD TV (from Videocon) have elicited mixed response from the consumers.  Looking at the festive season ahead, the latest product from Godrej might help the company to boost its presence in the segment. The product, which is built on the lines of a Playstation or X-Box will excite children and young adults but to think that it will revolutionize the gaming-segment seems to be a little far-fetched. From the cartridge-powered video games to the latest Xbox360’s and PS3s, the gaming industry has evolved over a period of time.  So it will be really interesting to see how far this latest game LCD will incite a serious gamer.
