Uninor on Top as India's GSM Base Grows 1.15 Percent

India's GSM mobile subscribers base grew 1.15 percent in October with an addition of over 7.12 million subscribers. The share new telecom operator Uninor alone was 2.67 million subscribers.

The total number of GSM subscribers in the country crossed 625.4 million in October as against 618.28 million the previous month, data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) showed Monday.





With a net addition of 2.67 million subscribers subscribers, the total subscriber base of Uninor grew to 32.32 million.

This was followed by Idea Cellular, which added over 1.64 million subscribers taking its total numbers to 101.82 million. The operator has a market share of 16.28 percent.

Bharti Airtel added 949,819 customers, a growth of 0.55 percent over the previous month, to have a total of 173.73 million subscribers. It has a market share of 27.78 percent.

Vodafone added 923,940 subscribers to take its total subscribers base to 145.92 million.

State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, with 14.64 percent market share, added 511,973 million subscribers, a growth of 0.56 percent over the previous month, taking its total subscriber base to 91.59 million.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd added 34,919 users to have a total number of 5.36 million users.
