Nabi, the First Android Tablet for Kids specification price

Fuhu, a U.S. based company, launched Nabi, the world’s first ever Android tablet with features especially for kids. The device features a front facing camera, a 1.1 GHZ Cortex A9 CPU, a PowerVR SGX530 3D graphics processor and has a 1080p HDMI display for video playback. Fuhu claims the tablet features various pre-loaded apps including music, games and books worth $150.

The tablet can be beneficial in terms of education because apart from games, it also has e-books and a ‘math learning program’, which can easily be downloaded from the Nabi App store. The ‘mommy mode’ in the device enables parents to use the tablet and browse the web without restrictions.

Robb Fujioka, Founder and President of Fuhu illustrated Nabi as an Android tablet with all features that one can think of. Right from touchscreen, WiFi, gaming, app stores, e-books - a tablet has it all, but within a boundary as it’s especially designed for kids.

With a limited availability in U.S. territories, the device can be pre-ordered only at Toys R Us with an estimated shipping date of 12-01-2011. The device is priced at $199.99.

The tablet is expected to be a big hit this holiday season among the high tech toys for kids. Leappad Explorer is another such tablet manufactured by LeapFrog priced at $123.90. LeapPad is claimed as the hottest toy of the year by several retailers and associations like Toy Retailers and Littlewoods. The touchscreen tablet is supported by its own app store emphasizing on education.

While the tech toys are catching pace among the children and retailers equally, some organization like TRUCE, Teachers Resisting Unhealthy Children's Entertainment, feel that toys like this will take kids away from human interaction and play.
