Airtel Offers Free Twitter Access







Realizing the increasing popularity of social networking, Airtel offers free access to Twitter for the first time in India. Airtel users can now access twitter free of cost from their mobile phones.




In May 2010, Facebook had teamed up with 50 mobile service providers to offer the social networking website to the users with no charges applied. Again in July 2011, Facebook offered free data access for the ‘Every Phone Java’ app for 90 days to 20 service providers including four from India- Airtel, Aircel, reliance and Idea.
According to N Rajaram, Chief Marketing Officer-Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel, “today’s Indian customer are now relying more on mobile device for accessing everything from emails to music to social networks. With the new trend, Airtel introduces 90 days free access to twitter for its users in India. More than 170 million Airtel users can now enjoy twitter on their mobile phones. Airtel always provide innovative experiences which are appropriate for their customers.”






This offer will be available to more than 170 million Airtel subscribers in India. With these the users can post their tweets, browse Twitter trends, current news and also can follow their friends and celebrities for free. To get free access to twitter, the users have to visit mobile.twitter.com and can sign up through their mobile number. To receive updates, they have to SMS ‘follow’ to 53000 and can follow others on twitter if they don’t have any twitter account of their own. Without any GPRS activated, the users will receive twitter updates in their phones via SMS. This offer is valid till 1st March 2012.
