Samsung going to stop e-book production
Samsung, one of the leading Asian manufacturers of cell phones and memory chips, is going to quit the production of e-book readers or displays, saying it to be too costly, a recent report from Korea said.
According to a company spokesperson, Samsung will remain in the e-book reader market with a device that uses an LCD panel instead. The product is to be released next year.
Samsung unveiled the E6 e-book reader with a 6-inch e-paper display and Wi-Fi at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this year. It was rumored to cost $400, which is likely to be a reason why the device never shipped.
